High School Business

HAIR STUDIO & FLOWER SHOP
Business-/communication plan and visual identity

To establish a “school store”
The school management at Edvard Munch High Scool in Oslo decided to open an on-campus hair studio and flower shop. The goal is to better prepare the students for the workforce by allowing them to practice with real clients while still in school.

This hands-on, less traditional learning method, which closely mirrors real-life work environments, could potentially lead to more students completing their trade certification., - and to boost student engagement.

Business- and communication plan missing
Edvard Munch High School soon understood that they needed assistance to develop a business plan, a communication strategy, and a visual identity, to be able to establish the stores in the market.

Approach
We designed a process that was carried out in collaboration with teachers and skilled workers from the vocational programs in hairdressing, floral design, and interior design.

The process covered the main components in a businness and communication plan:

  1. Target groups and their needs

  2. Products and Services to meet the customers' needs

  3. Pricing strategy and costs:; economic model

  4. Unique selling proposition and identity for the stores at Studio E

  5. Channel Strategy and plan for launch

  6. Routines for operating the stores

Finally, we developed a new visual identity for Studio E, based on this debrief outlined by the group:

We are a school store, run for and by students who receive work training in school, to strengthen the students in the transition to working life, where customer contribution is crucial for the professionals of the future.”
